"The Tango is not a dance but an obsession. For the
tanguero, it is as much a part of life as eating and
sleeping. Erotic and passionate, haunting and melancholy,
it involves not only the body but also the soul..."

Originally from Russia, Vladimir came to United States with his family in 1993. He fell in love with Tango long before he could even walk… Growing up in a very musical family, from the very early age he has been listening to the tangos played by his father and grandmother.

After taking his first Argentine Tango lesson about three years ago, he knew that he found his passion. In January of 2004 he became the instructor at the 3rd Street Dance Studio, teaching beginning and intermediate Argentine Tango, as well as advanced technique and styling Tango classes. While teaching mainly in Los Angeles, Vladimir has also been teaching and performing in in San Diego and Santa Barbara.

Together with Evita Arce, Vlad participated in the First International Argentine Tango Competition and Showcase hosted by the World Council for Argentine Tango Events in San Diego, California in January of 2004. He returned to participate in the competition in February of 2005 with partner Irene Tumanyan. Together they ranked Gold in Tango, Vals and Milonga. That same night Vladimir was also presented with the "Carlos Gardel Award" for the contribution to the world of Argentine Tango. In January of 2005, Vlad and Irene took the 1st Place in the the Argentine Tango Division of the Annual CalTech Dance Sport Competition.

In May of 2005, Vladimir served as the Amabassador of The IV Carlos Gardel Tango Festival in Los Angeles, California. He returned again to the Festival in 2006 as an ambassador and performer.

Vladimir is currently working on completing a double-major in Information Systems and Psychology from the California State University Northridge. Being a professional web designer, Vlad runs www.TangoAfficionado.com - online information resource for the Los Angeles tango community. He is also working on www.DanceAfficionado.com - the information portal of the Los Angeles' Dance Community.
